Four Ways to Bring Moving Water Into Your Outdoor Room

Architectural water walls — vertical stone or metal panels with sheet-style water flow. Clean, modern, sculptural. They work beautifully as a focal point at the end of a patio or alongside an outdoor dining zone. Low-maintenance, highly visual.

Koi ponds — the classic naturalistic water feature. Formal or informal, with proper filtration, aeration, and planting shelves for aquatic plants. We build ponds sized for serious koi keepers as well as smaller ornamental ponds with a handful of goldfish. Every pond is planned for the life you want from it, not a generic plan.

Pondless waterfalls — the most practical option for homes with young children, busy schedules, or HOA restrictions on open water. A concealed reservoir pumps water over a stacked-stone waterfall into a gravel bed, where it disappears and recirculates. You get all the sound and movement without standing water to maintain.

Custom fountains — from bubbling urn fountains beside an entry walk to multi-tier architectural fountains as the centerpiece of a formal garden. We render every fountain in 3D against your actual home so you see scale and proportion before anything is built.

The key is proper depth (at least 3 feet in the deepest zone for winter protection), adequate filtration, and aeration. We design every pond for the specific property's sun exposure, tree cover, and runoff conditions.

A small pondless waterfall or bubbling urn fountain typically starts in the mid-four figures. A full koi pond with stone surround and plantings usually runs in the mid-to-upper five figures. No. Moving water is the opposite of mosquito habitat — mosquitoes require standing, stagnant water to breed. A properly recirculating pond or fountain actually discourages mosquitoes. Fish in a koi pond eat any larvae that do attempt to develop. This is one of the biggest misconceptions about water features in the Southeast.
